Here's another photo prompt to help get you in the mood for writing. What is behind this door? Where is it at? Do you want to open it?
I know its really Wednesday, but my head cold got the better of me yesterday and I spent my time on the couch going through a box of tissues. I was too blech to read - never a good sign!
But, I'm a little later, but still excited for today's To Read!
I enjoyed WELCOME TO THE DARK HOUSE and RETURN TO DARK HOUSE, and when I saw this one I thought it sounded pretty interesting and right up my alley (especially considering its October!). When I get through all my homework and "real work" then I'll try to get this one read!
Some secrets shouldn't be kept...
Up until three months ago, everything in sixteen-year-old Camelia's life had been fairly ordinary: decent grades; an okay relationship with her parents; and a pretty cool part-time job at the art studio downtown. But when Ben, the mysterious new guy, starts junior year at her high school, Camelia's life becomes anything but ordinary.
Rumored to be somehow responsible for his ex-girlfriend's accidental death, Ben is immediately ostracized by everyone on campus. Except for Camelia. She's reluctant to believe the rumors, even when her friends try to convince her otherwise. She's inexplicably drawn to Ben and to his touch. But soon, Camelia is receiving eerie phone calls and strange packages with threatening notes. Ben insists she is in danger, and that he can help-but can he be trusted? She knows he's hiding something... but he's not the only one with a secret.
From the best-selling author of Blue is for Nightmares comes a story of paranormal romance that's sure to be a thrilling and chilling teen favorite.
Sorry for the long absence. I've started the year in my new position as a high school librarian (YAY!) and its been REALLY busy. But, I'm back in the swing of things, so I'll be posting regularly again. Even more than before, I hope!
In any case, this week's book just looks really interesting. Salem, witches, and really old grudges.... what could possibly go wrong? Very interested to read this one. And B&N educator week is coming. Just sayin'.
Salem, Massachusetts is the site of the infamous witch trials and the new home of Samantha Mather. Recently transplanted from New York City, Sam and her stepmother are not exactly welcomed with open arms. Sam is the descendant of Cotton Mather, one of the men responsible for those trials and almost immediately, she becomes the enemy of a group of girls who call themselves The Descendants. And guess who their ancestors were?
If dealing with that weren't enough, Sam also comes face to face with a real live (well technically dead) ghost. A handsome, angry ghost who wants Sam to stop touching his stuff. But soon Sam discovers she is at the center of a centuries old curse affecting anyone with ties to the trials. Sam must come to terms with the ghost and find a way to work with The Descendants to stop a deadly cycle that has been going on since the first accused witch was hanged. If any town should have learned its lesson, it's Salem. But history may be about to repeat itself.
